Michele Santalucia started his work as a ceramist in Abruzzo in 1999; then he moved to Seville, Spain, to refine his craft. In 2006, after learning the local techniques and new artistic styles, he came back to Italy, Francavilla al Mare, his hometown near Chieti (Abruzzo) where he opened his own atelier, Ceramiche Santalucia. His ceramics incorporate influences of the classic Abruzzo ceramic tradition, from Castelli to Rapino, the work of the great masters of Italian majolica, Grue and Cascella, and the classical Greek pottery painting. His unique creations are the result of the quality of the traditional ceramic style combined with contemporary taste.
